Last night, hubby brought me this…..

and said, “Can you use this?, or should I throw it away?”
I told him, “Don’t you dare throw that away.”
I promptly did this to it.

Now if I can figure out a way to put a hole in the top and smooth the edges…....

Maybe I could melt a small hole with an empty glue gun?
Anyone have any ideas?

We has em!
Scott & Chandra, and their 6 yr old, and 1 yr old sons, from Bristol TN.
We didn’t know we were getting neighbors until the moving truck backed up the driveway next door. (That house has been empty for nearly 2 years)
Luckily, we had gotten a package of sliced cake from Walmart, so we took that over with us to meet and welcome the new neighbors.
They seem to be having the same kind of troubles everyone has on moving day. The gas, water and electric was supposed to have been turned on, but weren’t. Hubby’s over there trying to help them get things sorted out.

Red and Whipper are happy dogs today! The sun in shining in, and they get to sunbathe in the living room!
We’ve had so many grey days lately, that it really is nice to have a sunny day.

I just finished “Carol’s Clever Little Shawl”.

It’s an easy pattern, and very quick to make.

I used an acrylic lace weight yarn that someone gave me years ago. I knit with a double strand, and I have enough left to make 2 more shawls.

The pattern for the shawl is a free download on Ravelry.

I’ve been doing some sewing lately. Our kitchen and dining room now has curtains! Here’s the kitchen curtain.

And the back door curtain.

And the dining room curtain.

I’ve also got a tablecloth and napkins to match the curtains, because I made the curtains from tablecloths.
A couple of years ago, I was looking for a Christmas present at Linen ‘N Things, or Bed, Bath & Beyond. One of those big box stores, when I spotted a display of tablecloths on sale. I’d been looking for blue/white curtains, and I hadn’t had any luck finding any. Apparently blue & white isn’t a popular color combination at the moment. Everywhere I looked, I’d found plenty of green, gold, red, orange and browns, but NOTHING in blue & white. So I decided to buy a bunch of the sale tablecloths, and make my own curtains. The best part? All of the curtains I just made used just 2 tablecloths, and the whole project cost less than $13.00!
Why YES! – I am cheap!
My camera has been giving me problems. I have no idea why it worked today. I’ve tried to download photos for several weeks now, but haven’t been able to get that function to work. So when I took photos of the curtains earlier today, I didn’t really expect that I’d be able to post them here. I guess I must have been holding my mouth “just right”!

Our next step in the kitchen/dining room remodel is painting the woodwork.

The back door is painted.

So is the window over the kitchen sink.

And the 2 windows in the dining room.
Bob also painted the base boards and the closet door.
Now I have to figure out which shade of blue I want to put on the walls, and start working on the curtains for the windows and back door.
The fun never ends!

It seems to be the season…........
Hubby totaled his car, 2 fridays ago, on the 7th.

He rear-ended someone, and got a ticket, on his way to the Fauquier/Liberty High School Football game.
Then on this past Saturday, he totaled my car.

Hubby did manage to stop before hitting the car in front of us, but then the car behind ours slammed us into the front car anyway.
I’m amazed at how little it takes to damage a car enough for it to be totaled. I’ve been knocked around a lot worse on roller coasters, than the little bump/jerk I felt on Saturday, when my car was hit, both front and back.
The good news is – we’re both o.k.
They say things come in 3’s. I hope it’s not MY rental car that becomes #3. Or maybe I should say, “When it rains, it pours.”
Anyone got a minivan for sale? I’m going to need one.

Friday, I got to visit a new yarn shop located in Centerville, VA.
With Yarn in Front

It’s a very nice shop, lots of pretty yarn, but there’s room for lots more. They also had spinning wheels. I got to try out a Lady Bug Spinning Wheel. Also got to try out Minstrel and Sonata wheels by Kromski.
Of the ones I tried out, I liked the Kromski Sonata the best.
I’ve also been doing a little woodworking. I filled up the paddle of the Rakestraw Spinner I’ve been using, so I looked at the website to see how much it would cost to buy another one. WOW! $25.00 just for the paddle. So I went to A C Moore’s and wandered around their woodworking department. I found a thin piece of wood. It’s 3” wide, 1/8” thick and 24” long.

I got hubby to cut it into 3 pieces.

I used a 3X5 card to duplicate the curves on the original paddle, and marked the curves on the 3 pieces. Got hubby to cut everything out, then it was my turn to use sandpaper to smooth everything out.

They’re a little bit lop-sided, but they work just fine. So now I’ve got 3 more paddles for my Rakestraw Spinner. Yippee!!
