Felted Galway Bag

Decided to make myself a great big – carry everything – felted bag. I used some worsted weight Galway I had in my stash. Bought it to make a sweater, but somehow never got around to the sweater. I used 9 skeins of the Galway, on size 11 needles. The stripes are single skeins of Knit Picks, “Wool of the Andes”. I knit one strand of Galway with one strand of “Andes”. On the solid turquoise portions of the bag I used doubled strands of the Galway. Here it is pre-felting.

also this one, guess who’s “in the bag”!

This is after felting, in the same pose as pre-felting. The bag felted at least 50% both in width and length.

I’m planning to sew in a lining with pockets. More pictures to come once I finish the lining and get my digital camera working again.
